The 2025 NFL Draft is filled with talent. From future star running back Ashton Jeanty to dominant defensive lineman Abdul Carter, there are many athletes who will thrive at the next level. However, some positions have more talent than others.
Quarterbacks: D
Quarterbacks are a weakness of this draft class. There is a clear top two of Cam Ward from Miami and Shedeur Sanders from Colorado. Both of these players have very high ceilings but also very low floors.
Running Backs: A+
Running backs are considered the strongest position group in the whole draft. The position is headlined by Ashton Jeanty, Omarion Hampton, and Cam Skattebo. The position also has a lot of depth with many possible starters falling as low as the fifth round.
Wide Receivers: C
The 2025 wide receivers are not nearly as strong as the 2024 class. However, Tetairoa McMillan is a big-bodied receiver from Arizona who will most likely be drafted inside of the top ten picks. One more receiver is Luther Burden from Mizzou who is talented all around.
Tight Ends: B
The 2025 NFL Draft has three amazing tight end prospects. One is Penn State’s Tyler Warren who won the John Mackey award. Another one is Michigan’s Colston Loveland. Loveland started the season as the projected Mackey Award winner, but his team held him back. Finally, Bowling Green’s Harold Fannin Jr. tallied over 1,500 yards and 10 touchdowns last season.
Offensive Linemen: B-
Either Kelvin Banks Jr. or Will Campbell will be the first O-linemen taken off the board and most likely the only two linemen taken in the first round. However, six other O-linemen are projected to be drafted in the second round.
Defensive Linemen: A
12 of the top 50 NFL draft prospects are defensive linemen. The two top D-line prospects, Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant, also played at the same college, the University of Michigan. Other notable prospects are Deone Walker, Walter Nolen, and Tyleik Williams.
Linebackers/Edge Rushers: B-
Linebackers and edge rushers have tons of talent but have many questions. Abdul Carter is considered the most talented player in the entire draft but has been injury prone. James Pearce Jr. is a dominant edge rusher out of Tennessee, but his behavior issues may cause him to slip in the draft.
Cornerbacks: A
Cornerbacks do not have as much talent as the running backs, but they may have the largest name. Travis Hunter won the Heisman award in the 2024-25 season and wants to be a two-way player (cornerback and wide receiver) in the NFL.
Safety: C+
Two safeties in the draft had their stock rise tremendously in a short period of time. Nick Emmanwori is an athletic phenom out of South Carolina with a 43” vertical and ranked the most athletic at the combine. Xavier Watts is a corner out of Notre Dame who shined in the College Football playoffs and helped lead his team to the National Championship game.
The 2025 NFL Draft will take place on April 24-26, 2025, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Who do you think is the best in the draft and deserves to go first?
