Beginning in August the Chaminade Swim & Dive Team worked hard day in and day out to perfect technique and speed. For many swimmers, state is the culmination of their work and commitment. As both the swim and dive seasons came to an end, those who went to state looked to show their hard work through their various achievements and lowest times.
Prior to state, Spencer Kinsey ’26 was interviewed about his biggest achievements and goals for state. One of Spencer’s biggest accomplishments of the season going into state was getting first place in the 100 Meter Breaststroke at the meet in Colombia, MO, with a time of 56.0 seconds. Spencer was also a part of the 200 Meter IM relay team, who achieved a 1 minute 51 second finish in the event.
After state I met with Spencer Kinsey again and asked him some questions regarding his results at state. He was reluctant to tell me that he achieved 3rd in both the 100-meter breaststroke and the 200 IM. His time in the 100-meter breaststroke was 55.66 seconds and his time for the 200 IM was 1 minute and 49.91 seconds. He was very proud of these results and feels as though the other swimmers put in hard work and dedication at state.
With that being said, the 2024-2025 high school swim season comes to an end, and many of the swimmers will return to their club swim teams in anticipation of next year’s season. The Chaminade swim team ends with a meet record of 10 wins and 3 losses, reflecting the hard work and dedication of all those involved in the team.
