Chaminade has a new club that’s causing excitement around the school: Weightlifting Club. To find out more I sat down with the founder of the club, Juan Pablo Haro, ’25, to find out what the hype is about.
- What made you want to start the weightlifting club?
I wanted to start the weightlifting club because I’ve seen the love for lifting all around Chaminade and wanted to start a community within Chaminade purely around the gym.
- What workouts do you plan to implement in the club?
Some of the workouts I plan to implement inside of the club mostly revolve around athletic training and hypotrophy training.
- What is your favorite personal workout?
Personally, my favorite workout is hypotrophy training, and I run a push-pull leg split 5 times a week.
- Do you have any recommendations for someone starting lifting?
My recommendation for anyone starting to lift is to have fun with it, not overcomplicate it, and focus on nutrition and diet, not just the gym.
- What is your favorite pre-workout?
I normally don’t use pre-workout because I like energy drinks, but my favorite pre-workout I’ve had is one called black market anabolic Warfare pre-workout.
