Mizzou is in the midst of a historic season, and through it all there has been a Chaminade alum leading the Tigers. Brady Cook, 3 star recruit out of high school, has turned into one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC this year. In his first year at the University of Missouri, he played in a total of three games going 6/7 on passes with a touchdown. That year he preserved a redshirt season. His next year he played 5 games and led them to a bowl game vs Army. He finished his redshirt freshman season with an 80% completion percentage, 350 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 92 yards and a rushing touchdown. The next season, he was named the starter. He finished the year with 2,724 yards, which is 11th in Missouri history. He rushed for 585 yards, scored 20 total touchdowns and threw just 7 interceptions. Brady went up to third in Mizzou football history for most pass attempts without an interception with 89 pass attempts. And now, in the current season, Brady has already led the team to clinching a bowl game and even has the Tigers in contention to play in the College Football Playoffs. He has set the SEC record for most pass attempts in a row without an interception and has led Mizzou to its first top 25 ranking since 2019.
During his bye week last week, Brady was kind enough to answer some questions:
Q: What was your favorite Chaminade memory?
Brady: “My favorite Chaminade memory outside of football was being a part of the Red Army at basketball and soccer games. There was nothing like it. Football wise, beating Vianney my senior year was something I won’t forget.”
Q: What is your favorite memory at Mizzou so far?
Brady: “My favorite memory at Mizzou so far was beating Kansas State earlier this year. The ending was straight out of a story book, and having the fans rush the field was insane. That moment was something I worked for my whole life!”
Q: Any words of advice for current Chaminade football players?
Brady: “The biggest advice I can give to current players is to take advantage of the time you have. High school football is the most fun you’ll have playing the sport, so treat every practice, rep, and game like it’s your last.”
